“Lynching” is still illegal

Trayvon Martin It is ironic that Spike Lee and the New Black Panthers are copying the exact tactics of a group loathed by them and the entire black community since Reconstruction – the Klu Klux Klan.  By putting a bounty out on Mr. Zimmerman they are basically calling for the lynching of a man who by all unbiased accounts was defending himself from a black teenager, Trayvon Martin, who, in my opinion, returned to either kill Mr. Zimmerman or beat him into forgetting what Martin looked like.  What other reason would Martin have for approaching Zimmerman at his car and asking if “he had a problem”?  I believe, rather I hope, that IF all the undiluted facts are brought out, it will be shown: 1. Martin had no legitimate business in that neighborhood – and has a criminal record (normally inaccessible as a juvenile).  2. That neighborhood had experienced numerous burglaries.  3. Zimmerman noticed a suspicious person and notified the police (something I hope my neighbors do for me and I certainly would do for them); 4. Zimmerman did return to his vehicle when advised by the dispatcher. 5. Martin voluntarily returned and approached Zimmerman, beat him onto the ground, straddled him and threatened to kill him before Zimmerman shot and killed Martin. If that is not self defense then this country is more upside down than I thought.  Lynching in most states is generally defined as the illegal taking of a prisoner from a law enforcement officer.  Spike Lee and the New Black Panthers are doing exactly that rather than allowing the system to run its’ course.  They are taking upon themselves being judge, jury and executioner.  By doing so they are subject to charges of lynching, inciting to riot, conspiracy to violate a person’s civil rights and mobocracy.  Even Fox News commentators infer Zimmerman’s guilt by deprecating the “Stand Your Ground” laws in many states and stating -in O’Reilly’s case- “defending the actual shooting would be difficult to defend”.  Hogwash and Balderdash!  Even Rush Limbaugh’s characterization of the shooting as a “tragedy” implies a U.S. citizen had no right to defend himself from a marauding criminal.  Their have been one or two black commentators who have declared the need to let the justice system work.  President Obama has not been one of them.  Instead he plays the race card by claiming Martin could have been his son – if he had a son.  If you tie a jet to a cow’s ass it will fly over the moon too! (I got that from a fighter pilot).
