How Conservatives Capitulate The Border Conversation

“If they can get you to ask the wrong questions, they don’t have to worry about answers.” – Thomas Pynchon, Gravity’s Rainbow.

     Conservatives have been asking the wrong questions about the border from the beginning. It started with the Left’s successful campaign shaming the Right into using the wrong terminology. It is a paradigm of the Left (and Madison Avenue) that if you can control the conversation, you control the outcome. For all the pontifications, protests, and complaints by every one of the Fox News and Newsmax bobbing head commentators, the virtue signaling members of Congress, state governors and members of state legislators, every one of them has been captured by the Left in using the wrong terminology for who is entering our country illegally.

     “Illegal Immigration”, “Illegal Immigrant”, “Migrant Invasion”, “The Immigrant Issue” are all statutorily oxymorons. Nowhere in the Immigration & Nationality Act (INA) will you find the terms “illegal” and “Immigrant” together. Immigration law is second only to the IRS code in complexity. But a ninth grader can read it and find the statutory difference between “alien” and “immigrant.”

“Alien” is a legal term that refers to any person who is not a citizen or a national of the United States, as listed in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

Every time a supposedly conservative mouthpiece calls those entering the U.S. illegally “immigrant” they are granting a legal status and moral justification for those persons being in this country that they are not entitled to claim.

     By federal law, every person entering the United States illegally is an illegal alien. The conservative media and the rest of the Right rail against the low level of journalistic integrity by the MSM but they themselves have never taken the minimal effort to conduct an even cursory review of the INA and attempted to educate the public about it.

     The feckless posturing of the Republican moot majority is obvious in several ways: 1. Failure to impeach Mayorkas; 2. Failure to impeach Biden; and 3. Failure to charge those aiding and abetting millions of illegals into this country: governors and mayors of sanctuary cities; Soros and his cabal of district attorneys with specific violations of federal laws pertaining to immigration law:

Title 8, U.S.C. 1324(a):

  1. A) Any person who

(i) knowing that a person is an alien, brings to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever such person at a place other than a designated port of entry or place other than as designated by the Commissioner, regardless of whether such alien has received prior official authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States and regardless of any future official action which may be taken with respect to such alien;

(ii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, transports, or moves or attempts to transport or move such alien within the United States by means of transportation or otherwise, in furtherance of such violation of law;

(iii ) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation;

(iv) encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law; or

(v)

(I) engages in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts, or

(II) aids or abets the commission of any of the preceding acts, shall be punished as provided in subparagraph (B).

(B) A person who violates subparagraph (A) shall, for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs—

(i) in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i) or (v)(I) or in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(ii), (iii), or (iv) in which the offense was done for the purpose of commercial advantage or private financial gain, be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both;

(ii) in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(ii), (iii), (iv), or (v)(II), be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both;

(iii) in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v) during and in relation to which the person causes serious bodily injury (as defined in section 1365 of title 18) to, or places in jeopardy the life of, any person, be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both; and

(iv) in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v) resulting in the death of any person, be punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, fined under title 18, or both.

These and a multitude of other statutes should be listed as charges in indicting Joe Biden, Mayorkas, et al.  “Conservative” pundits are undermining the efforts of the agents on the line by using inaccurate and deceptive terminology repeatedly on a daily basis in the psychological battle for control of the border.

The Left is living in the Right’s head rent free by controlling the speech. By failing to educate the public – and elected officials- on the applicable laws and their punishments, it allows both illegal aliens and those aiding and abetting their illegal activity to avoid the severe and appropriate punishment accorded by law

No one in conservative media nor politics is sufficiently articulating what the law is that should be enforced nor what punishments should be applied

Conservative media talking heads complain the Left thinks Americans are stupid and believe the swill they dish out. But it’s the conservative media that has capitulated the conversation about Biden’s treasonous violation of our border / national security by succumbing to peer pressure over terminology and assuming the American viewer won’t be able to understand the statutes listed above is shown to the viewer. They will. More voters might even demand the laws be enforced when properly educated on the issue.

Words mean things. Words are powerful. Use the correct ones and win the battle for the border.

    Totally agree. Words are powerful! I’m guilty of letting the left kidnapping my brain with their language. It’s an invasion of illegal aliens NOT immigrants. I know we are impeachment weary but Biden allowing this invasion is such a treasonable act! He should be in prison for endangering all our lives
