Vetting Brandon Martin – Candidate for AZ Congressional District 2

“Men become politicians who are unwilling to labor and, after shouting at the polls and at ward meetings, they demand to be paid in the offices of the people, which probably they have not the character to claim nor the capacity to fill.” – Annals of America, Vol. 8,

This describes Brandon Martin to a capitol “T”.

“The six pillars of character are Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.” … in general, people who are considered to have good character often have traits like integrity, honesty, courage, loyalty, fortitude, and other important virtues that promote good behavior.  These character traits define who they are as people – and highly influence the choices they make in their lives. ” – charactercounts.org.

An objective measuring stick for evaluating political candidates’ qualifications is SF 86,  used by the military to conduct background investigations for security clearances.  Congressmen are routinely given security clearances (Unlimited Access: An FBI Agent Inside the Clinton White House by Gary Aldrich).  “…in reality the reason many people find themselves in trouble can be as simple as a problem with personal finances which appears to be a recurring issue, personal conduct, etc. …In general, the government granting an individual access to classified information requires an assessment that includes any factors in a person’s life ‘that could cause a conflict of interest and place a person in the position of having to choose between his or her commitment to the United States... .  …background screeners are charged with determining if such patterns are life-long habits or one-time issues such as credit issues, debt problems and related issues.  …One area that can be troublesome on a background check is financial behavior that indicates the applicant is frequently over-extended on credit, personal debt, etc.  Having too much debt and not enough income creates a potential where those holding security clearances can be compromised.  …Financial considerations are among the highest causes of having a security clearance application denied…..What kinds of problems led to these denials?  In general they can and often do include:

     – Poor credit choices over a prolonged period of time.

     – Recognizable patterns of unpaid debt.

     – Recognizable patterns of paying consistently late

     – Recent acquisitions of cash or assets with no supporting documentation”, etc.  (Security Clearance Disqualifiers by MilitaryBenefits.com)

So let’s sit Arizona’s CD 2 candidate Brandon Martin down and screen him for his much-desired congressional security clearance.

Q. Have you ever had a security clearance?  If so, what is the highest level of clearance did you have?  Have you ever had a security clearance denied or suspended?

Q.  Is it true you asked Family Court Judge Cardinal to seal your otherwise public records of sustained and continuous missing or late alimony and child support payments?  Is it true Judge Cardinal asked why and you said “Because I’m running for Congress!”- at which she laughed aloud and denied the request?

Q. Is it true you have inferred in speeches during your previous campaign that you worked on Ft. Huachuca in “Military Intelligence” – and never have?

Q.  Is it true your resume’ states(ed) you “worked for the Commanding General on Ft. Huachuca” when in fact everyone works for the CG on Ft. Huachuca – including GS-5 “bean counters” of which you were one?

Q. Is it true you quit your secure federal job as a low-level GS-5 to run for Congress three years ago?

Q.  Is it true that you “preferred to play football” rather than deploy with your Army Reserve unit to Afghanistan? (I personally heard you say that at the Huachuca Womens’ GOP luncheon.)

Q.  Is it true your commander sent you home from Afghanistan after only four months for incompetence

Q. Is it true you intentionally gained so much weight and failed so many PT tests your commander kicked you out of the Army Reserves?

SF Section 1:

Q. What is your full legal name listed on your birth certificate? Date of birth? Location of birth?

SF 86 Section 5:

Q. What ethnicity did you claim on your enlistment contract and Enlisted Military Personnel File?

Q. Have you ever changed your ethnicity on any official form?

Q. What ethnicity is listed on your DD-214?  (many of these questions are not on SF 86.   I want to know if he’s “passing” for white (reverse Pocahontas).  Most of his retinue appears to be Hispanic.  This is important because the last thing we need is another congressman like Raul Grijalva.  Posing as a conservative (and white possibly) to get elected isn’t uncommon – look at John McCain and Martha McSally.

Q. List your previous places of employment for the last ten years, how long at each and reason for leaving.?

Q. Have you registered with the Selective Service?

Q. What professional organizations do you or have you belonged to?

Q. Are you currently utilizing or seeking assistance from a credit counseling service or similar source to resolve your financial difficulties?

Q. In the last TEN years have you been a party to any public record civil court action?

One of the listed virtues of character was Citizenship.  According to my sources, one has to ask how can any individual much less Brandon Martin dare to run for congress who has demonstrated a persistent lack of judgement  in maintaining a career, of loyalty to the United States in time of war, and a prolonged period of debt and unpaid bills (2012 to present), even think he is a good candidate for Congress much less a contributing Citizen of his district? This is not the profile of someone who “loves his country”.  It’s a profile of a lazy, unmotivated monetary opportunist.

If these things are true, you are grossly unqualified (and undeserving) to send real patriots into harm’s way.  There is no difference between you being sent back from a combat zone for incompetence and eating your way out of your military obligation than Bill Clinton’s draft dodging.  How can you manage our tax dollars when you can’t manage your own finances?  Your indebtedness is a result of your proclivity for taking the “short cut” to wealth – there isn’t any (unless you are elected to Congress).  This makes you vulnerable to compromise – by lobbyists, foreign and domestic.
