Congressman Comer Cowers Under Questioning: Political Virtue Signaling

In a recent interview on Newsmax, Representative James Comer, (R -Ky) used these soundbites to convince the American voters something was being done to end the corruption in Government:

  • “…no consequences for bad behavior.” (A Freudian slip or signaling?)
  • “…the End for this kind of conduct is near.” (Apocalyptic sensationalism)
  • “…we’re going to use extreme measures.” (Again, no specifics. That’s called Hyperbole.)

Like other congressional investigative committees dating back seventy years, those soundbites were simply more political virtue signaling.

The Newsmax host asked Comer the question on the minds of every American: “Will you guarantee the people of America that you are going to conduct a “perp walk” and send those corrupt officials to prison?”  Any casual observer of neurolinguistics could see the virtual needle on the polygraph jump off the graph. Comer did not answer the question. Every muscle in his back stiffened (I’m guessing including his rectal muscle). He simply reiterated his soundbites. That is telling, if not surprising. IF he had given an honest answer it would have been in the form of the real current POTUS: “Uh, that would be a no.”

The goal of Comer’s committee is not to use The Durham Report to send fellow politicians to prison. The Durham Report is simply going to be used as political embarrassment of the opposite aisle and fodder for winning more seats in congress. Here’s why:

  • The existence of a “classified briefing” of The Durham Report behind “closed doors” – the same way candidates are selected in smoke-filled back rooms at national Party conventions. There’s wheeling and dealing going on in both places. Information is power in politics and knowing things about other politicians gives the “ins” a powerful weapon to engineer agendas – and personal incomes. In criminal law the Constitution allows for “Right of Discovery” on both sides of the aisle. The American voters have the same right to know everything government officials have been doing to deny us our constitutional freedoms.  Comer should declassify the contents of that memo briefed behind-closed-doors and release every iota of information to the public. The power should be returned to the people by giving us the information – not harbored by politicians competing for control.
  • It will be shocking if Comer releases the entire contents of the “smoking gun” memo implicating Hunter and Joe Biden in corruption with China and other countries.
  • Americans should be given the names and the crimes committed by every actor associated with the Biden Crime Family. That damning information is missing in The Durham Report (“look at what is not mentioned”). The American people might as well have a toothless tiger conducting the investigation.
  • Congressional “club” members all have skeletons in their closets, the least of which is their “classified” loyalties to lobbyists. No member of the club wants to risk being exposed by actually holding other co-conspiratorial congressmen accountable.
  • Even if there were sufficient political will to prosecute, the Right’s moot majority  doesn’t give them the weight or the authority to prosecute. Only the corrupted U.S. Attorney General’s Office decides that. And they’re the ones who committed the crimes!
  • However – comma- our Constitution provides procedures so that “no one is above the law.” Congress can appoint a special prosecutor and take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court…just on the slight chance no D.C. jury would convict a congressman who facilitates their urban graft and chaos.

If there is any doubt about this, read both The 9/11 Commission Report and the Congressional Investigation into the 2008 Financial collapse – and compare what was “done” to prevent those from happening again.

“No one should have any illusions. The United States has essentially a one-party system and the ruling Party is the business Party.” – Noam Chomsky, Der Spiegel Online, October 10, 2008.
