“Amerika” – Fact or Fiction? The Plots Before the Coup

Limerick for the Day:

The Biden Admin is illegal

It continues to shit on our Eagle,

One wonders when

“our” Pentagon men

Will quit being Biden’s Beagle?

Sometimes Truth is stranger than fiction.  Two movies from the ’80s seemed surrealistic then – not so much now.  In 1984 the movie Red Dawn was a popular hit.  It starred Patrick Swayze as the son of a mayor in a small western town that was invaded by Russian paratroopers.  BTW, Hollywood’s recent remake of the movie changed their original identity of the antagonist (China) to North Korea…at the insistence of the Chinese government.  The original concept of America being invaded and occupied by a foreign enemy was not original to Hollywood.  A few years earlier I participated in a military exercise located in Utah consisting of the exact same scenario.  The desired end state was the liberation of the Western United States from a foreign occupying power.

“Amerika is an American television miniseries broadcast in 1987 on ABC.  The miniseries inspired a novelization entitled Amerika: The Triumph of the American Spirit. Amerika is about life in the United States after a bloodless takeover engineered by the Soviet Union.   ABC Entertainment president Brandon Stoddard set the miniseries ten years after the event focusing on the demoralized U.S. “people.”  The intent, was to explore the U.S. spirit under such conditions…..

Amerika has an indirect connection to another notable ABC program, the 1983 television film The Day After, which some critics felt was too pacifist for portraying the doctrine of nuclear deterrence as pointless.  Stoddard cited a column in the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner by Nixon speechwriter (and, later, television personality) Ben Stein that appeared a few weeks before The Day After aired.  Stein wrote, in part:

…since my dear friends at ABC TV have made a TV movie very rightly describing the terror of an atomic attack on America, perhaps they might consider something else.  Perhaps they might make a TV movie about why the people of the United States face such a dreadful risk.  They might make a movie about what life would be like in the United States if we lived under Soviet domination.  Here is the idea: Let’s have a movie call “In Red America.”  It would be about a few days or weeks in the life of several American families after the Soviet Union had taken over America.

Backstory:

Towards the end of the 1980s, as the decline of the Soviet Union puts it in danger of losing the Cold War, the Soviet leadership makes a desperate gamble to rearrange the global balance of power.  Four large thermonuclear weapons are detonated in the ionosphere over the United States.  The resulting electromagnetic pulse (EMP) destroys the nation’s communications and computer systems, cripples the U.S. electrical grid and affects any equipment that relies on computer technology.  With its ICBMs inoperative and the National Command Authority unable to contact U.S. military forces abroad or their foreign allies in Western Europe to launch a counterattack- the U.S. is forced to accept Soviet terms for surrender; unilateral disarmament; the end of the dollar as a reserve currency, and integration into the Soviet military/economic bloc.  The United States quickly falls under Soviet military occupation.

Geopolitical Situation:

In 1997, a decade after its defeat, the contiguous United States is occupied by a United Nations “peacekeeping force”, the United Nations Special Service Unit (UNSSU) , composed primarily of Communist state forces.  UNSSU troops periodically engage in destructive combined arms training exercises which are deliberately intimidating to the local population.

Those Americans who engage in dissent are stripped of the privileges [rights] and sent to exile camps.  Association and communication with the exiles is prohibited and forbidden…

Climax and resolution

In the final episode, Heartland has seceded from the United States, with other regions to follow within the next few weeks.  Heartland soldiers and local militia (see blog; Remedy for Tyranny and Anarchy dated 2020/07/08) attack the local UNSSU compound.  There is talk of a “Second American Revolution” that could undermine the Soviet Union’s plans to break up the United States.  Devin Milford is about to make a nationwide speech telling Americans to revolt against the Soviet Occupation, however, Milford is shot to death.” – Source: Wikipedia

The next thing you know Hollywood will plagiarize the British TV miniseries Island at War in which the Germans invade England – and the British welcome them with open arms!  Not inconceivable considering the majority of millenials believe Socialism is OK.  Island at War was actually a scenario taught at the U.S. Army Military Intelligence “Center of Excellence”, Ft. Huachuca, Arizona during the “counterinsurgency” phase of the Captain Career Course for several years.  The captains were required to play the role of SS officers seeking out and destroying U.S. Special Forces teams infiltrating England to liberate the country! (see blog archives: 304th MI Battalion; 111th M.I. Brigade, etc.).  The exercise morphed into swastikas being placed on door windows and students giving each other the Seig Heil salute – at the same time Fort Huachuca was “celebrating” Holocaust Remembrance month.  Most captains did not know the Germans had not actually invaded England during WW II.  The concept was plagiarized by a racist (“those black bastards!”), retired British major “Dusty” Miller and heartily endorsed by battalion commander LCOL. Riehle!  TRADOC, the keeper of army instructional standards, gave it their blessing as well.  Of course, once the cat was out of the bag, the course died a quiet death but Miller was promoted up to the highest echelon at Fort Huachuca.  LCOL Riehle wrote a letter to the State Department (that Miller left exposed on top of a file cabinet for months) that Miller’s U.S. citizenship was “of critical importance to the security of the United States” or words to that effect.

About ten years ago, under the Obama Administration, our own military conducted a CPX (command post exercise) in which the “notional” enemy eerily resembled the Tea Party.  In furtherance of that scenario, the Biden Administration is now attempting to purge OUR military of independent thinkers under the guise of “domestic terrorism.”

It will be interesting to see how much of our constitutional heritage DNA remains in us as individuals continue to be silenced and imprisoned.  How much R.E.D. Dawn American Spirit remains?
