“Pupils of Pavlov have studied the formation of conditional reflexes in school children. The first experiments were those of Dr. Krassnogorsky who demonstrated that every experiment Pavlov achieved regarding stimulus-response in dogs was entirely applicable to children; a notable fact established was that well-defined conditioned reflexes could be obtained in babies about eight weeks after birth. Later experiments in Russia, America, and Rumania on school children 10-14 found that: verbal excitation, the principal means of education employed at school was the best of all conditional excitants, permitting reflexes to be easily grafter on one another.
Another result found was imitation practiced on a large scale in education is of great value in the formation of reflexes in children. In his book The Seven Pillars of Wisdom, Colonel Thomas E. Lawrence, the famous “Lawrence of Arabia” refers to passing by a rock formation in the shape of a woman located in the Saudi Peninsula. It is known to locals as “Lot’s Wife.” In the Midrash her name is given as Edith who was punished by God for disobeying the instructions of angels by looking back toward Sodom as God was destroying it.
