I have to give it to the Trumpistas (I refuse to denigrate them as Republicans), they proved me wrong – so far. I repeatedly warned of a repeat of the Dems theft of the 2020 elections for very historically proven precedents and demographically viable reasons (see bibliography).
I was pessimistic to the point of depression feeling an ominous certainty the odds of Trump living to not just be the Republican nominee, but to win the election against basically the entire federal government’s opposition.
I’ve studied and participated in counterinsurgency warfare for over thirty years. I know an insurgency when I see one and the Dems “fundamental transformation of America” matched step-by-step the classic insurgency pyramid. Further historical research into the human psyche only deepened my fatalistic forecast of the 2024 election.
A spiritual epiphany on the way to work on a cold February morning a month after Obama was elected told me Obama was going to be re-elected. I was so sure of its source I bet a co-worker who considered himself more conservative than I a hundred dollars. My friend exclaimed “How can you even think that! He’s screwing up the country every day he’s in office!” Four years later he paid me in five 20s and I bought everybody breakfast. That same feeling hit me with the same chest pounding force regarding Trump’s slim chances in 2024. I could not imagine the Left peacefully surrendering control of their cash cow – our government – to a man they were psychotically obsessed with eliminating.
I saw the same emotional 2020 Red Wave building in 2024 but I wasn’t seeing the GOP doing anything in 2024 to counter the Dems 2020 “cheat the beat” they were sure to use again. One of the paradigms of insurgency doctrine is to keep a successful strategy until it fails (Mao). Feckless political platitudes like “Beat the Cheat” and “Too Big to Rig” by themselves were not going to win the election if the Dems repeated their open ended vote counting.
The same pollsters were predicting a “razor-thin” race adding indicators were minorities were beginning to wake up. But they are pollsters and their record speaks for itself.
When I heard Trump say only 36% of NRA members vote it confirmed my opinion that huffing and puffing within those ranks was swamp gas. The Second Amendmenters weren’t going to save America.
My sister told me the RNC had strategically positioned over 3,500 lawyers to monitor the election. That did not impress me at the time. Beside my natural loathing for lawyers in general, precedent proved “I’ll sue ’em!” was a Johnny-Come-Lately after the horses have already escaped the corral situation; a glacial process in hostile judicial waters that dissembled and denied legal challenges until the Dems’ illegal victory was a fait accompli.
The first Indicator I saw of a possible chance for a Trump victory was Lara Trump announcing at the RNC convention (a masterfully programmed event) they had set a goal of recruiting 100,000 poll watchers – and 230,000 stood up. My cautious and fledgling optimism was tempered watching plaintiffs with credible, video and statistical direct evidence of massive electoral fraud in Arizona being dismissed by the Arizona judiciary. Despite that, I felt as if the Trumpistas had thrown me a life preserver just before going under a third time.
After the election my sister reminded me of the lawyer task force and I reconsidered their utility. I guess having the threat of legal consequences staring the ballot workers in the face did have the desired effect. Targeting and saturating swing states with both poll watchers and legal eagles was political and economic genius – money well spent unlike Kamallah’s Bernie Madoff-style Ponzi scheme.
Whoever the actual campaign strategist was for the Trumpistas, he/she deserves the American Freedom Medal and the thanks of a grateful nation.
Anyone who has been in combat knows God does not normally intervene in who lives and who dies. I don’t believe God put his index finger on Trump’s chin and moved his head sideways to miss a possible fatal shot. I’m not convinced it was an actual bullet that hit him. A supersonic bullet of that caliber passing that close to one’s head I believe would have left some kind of trauma to his head. A bullet would have left a distinctive whole or partial hole in his ear. He and others nearby would have heard a distinctive SNAP! as it passed by his head but neither Trump nor anyone else reported hearing one. I’m not a ballistics expert but I am a Marine – and despite that, I could still be wrong! That’s all a moot point now. It provided a convenient iconic image of the counterinsurgency.
The Biden/Harris administration‘s treasonous dictatorship and the victorious Trump counterinsurgency conjured in my mind the scene in the movie Torah! Torah! Torah! in which Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto says “I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant, and his reaction will be terrible.”
And, speaking of being wrong, I am probably the happiest most wrong Conservative in America so far (see: Caesar and Trump: A Conversation dated November 2, 2023 this site). Despairing of my suspicion our Heavenly Father left the election up to us, I finally mustered up the courage to text one of my sons the morning after to ask who won the election.
When he told me, I fell prostrate on my floor weeping in gratitude, praising God and thanking Him for saving our sorry asses one more time.
The answer I received in return was a vision of America just passing through the eye of a hurricane – a temporary reprieve; the persistence of Evil and the hedonism of humanity being what it is. I hope I’m wrong again!
Sitting outside the doctor’s office a few days after the election, my sick, six year old grandson sitting next to me with his head resting on my arm, I told him the two best things that happened to me this year was his dad moving the family into town six minutes from me – and Trump being elected.
At this season of Thanks, I hope we as a nation will remember the Source of the miracles of our nation’s birth (read 1776 by David McCullough), our preservation these 250 years, and the Trump victory.
Let’s “earn it.”
