A majority of Americans are “cool” to the idea of allowing Central American “children” to flood across the U.S. border and take up residency. The public premise of the demographically gerrymandering president is to rescue these “innocents” from the horrors of a rampaging inter-Cartel drug war. His real agenda of course is to stuff future ballot boxes with appreciative democrat Hispanics. He’s getting away with it because the GOP takes its’ marching orders from the Chamber of Commerce.
A paradigm of politics is to always apply a band aid when surgery is required. A band aid is psychologically sufficient to appease the vocal minority but fails to excise the tumor within. And so Congress passes another Immigration Bill throwing billions more in taxpayer earnings down the illegal alien rabbit hole.
The drug cartels are killing each other – and almost all the killings are of those involved in drug trafficking – for control of an almost unimagineably lucrative commodity. The number of killings show not how much the “Drug War” has failed as claimed by political and media pundits but how pervasive drug trafficking is in the failed state of Mexico. Economically Mexico is making progress in a two-steps-forward, one-step-back climb. It has privatized most formerly nationalized businesses and lured in significant technology-based companies. But its’ power elite still refuses to invest significantly in improving infrastructure (Chiapas, etc.) for fear of losing political control to an economically solvent (ergo educated) population. It also continues to subjugate its’ citizenry through denial of Second Amendment rights.
The two pillars of political stability for the power elite in Mexico are: earnings from their citizens working illegally in the U.S. sending money home to their families; and “mordida” (bribes) from the drug cartels. Both U.S. political parties’ foreign policy prescription for decades has been to feed both addictions rather than tie foreign aid to actual improvements in infrastructure.
The answer to one of the problems lies with every American citizen who uses drugs. Americans consume the vast majority of illegal drugs in the world. In brain-addled fashion the bleating “drugs are a victimless crime” proves false when severed heads lie on streets and burned, beheaded bodies hang from bridges. American drug users are providing Obama an excuse to subvert the political process posing as a humanitarian. Both are hypocrites.
