Current and former congressmen interviews regarding the House Speaker process seem to feel Jim Jordan wouldn’t be a good House Speaker for two reasons: “he’s not a ‘unifier’ and he’s not as good a ‘fundraiser’ as Steve Scalise. Well, thank God for that!
Steve Scalise does not have an honest face. He has a weak chin and beady, shifty eyes. He looks like a mafia don on trial. I’m curious why he lost so many secret ballots during the closed doors nomination. Perhaps others know something about him we don’t know at a time when Biden is facing charges that can’t be unique to him within the beltway where influence peddling is a “brand.”
Jim Jordan has an honest face. He has a working man’s face. His has a strong jaw (from gritting his teeth during committee hearings no doubt) and a steady, honest gaze. His face has been seen grilling weaponized bureaucrats unmercifully. He’s not afraid to get in their faces nor of offending them.
Steve Scalise’ face has not been seen doing any of these because he’s a “great unifier” and “fund raiser.”
Americans are damn sick and tired of “unifiers” and “fundraisers” running Congress. Those two words capture everything the American people feel is wrong with Congress. We’re fed up with to our necks with politicians who scratch each other’s backs to pack their quota of fraud, waste, and abuse in the “compromising, team sport” congressional pork barrel. That’s what has gotten us in this financial fiasco in the first place.
It’s not Matt Gaetz and his group who caused the chaos for Speaker of the House. It’s the GOP politicians insisting on preserving the status quo – the ‘good ‘ol boy’ network- that has brought the American taxpayer so much grief and pain for so many years. The Gaetz Group has demonstrated a trait unseen in multiple decades – statesmanship. The Gaetz Group is standing firmly on principle! The American people are starving for their representatives to demonstrate some intestinal fortitude and stop the mad rush over the financial abyss currently before us taxpayers. The Gaetz Group are the only members of Congress demonstrating they have a moral compass with a north seeking arrow on True North. The Gaetz Group is trying to defy the law of political physics – change the status quo by setting the example. It’s like trying to push a string uphill.
The GOP used to stand for something – conservative principles. That was a long, long time ago. There are quotes from respected Statesmen in the Annals of America that those political principles disappeared not long after the Constitution was signed and politicians realized they could spend our money to buy votes. The Truth now is the GOP does not stand for principles – conservative or otherwise. The GOP stands for preserving the GOP and to Hell with Principles. That’s why the first briefing newly elected congressmen receive on their first day in office is how to raise money for the Party. It was introduced as the most important class in “candidate training” in Phoenix during my brief 2019 campaign. A video showed one new congressman explaining he had to spend most of his day – every day– on the phone contacting donors – and the GOP expected the newbie to raise $10,000 per day! Those who demonstrated sufficient fundraising ability got choice appointments to powerful committees. Those who didn’t were pigeonholed into obscurity. That’s how our Congress has been running for over two hundred years.
It’s why the GOP always goes along with the Democrats whenever “immigration reform” raises its’ ugly head – and why when that “reform” is signed into law the border gets weaker and weaker. It’s why the GOP kowtows to the National Chamber of Commerce to not be so vocal about border security. It’s why McConnell, McCain and the rest conspired against Trump declaring they would never pass any of his agenda on Trump’s first day in office.
The Gaetz Group may be registered Republicans but in acting for the best interests of the American people, in keeping their campaign promises, and in standing up to the GOP status quo they are actually de facto Independents. And, to paraphrase Gunny Ermey, Independence is what’s needed right now!
The GOP needs to find their intestinal fortitude and fall in line with the Gaetz Group agenda. If they do the GOP may finally achieve the “tidal wave” they’ve anticipated the last three elections – and failed to achieve because they were feckless in standing behind a necessary government shutdown and a strong moral stance against abortion.
We Americans hate weakness – especially in our “leaders”.
