Just as the pentagon has contingency operations plans (COPs) for invading every country in the world (announced publicly by SecDef Rumsfeld), every State Department residence abroad is required to complete a Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation (NEO) packet for situations exactly like what’s happening to our embassies throughout the Middle East. The existence of these packets is not classified but their contents are. Almost every nation in the world has such contingency plans. These NEO packets contain extremely detailed information on both the facilities and personnel to be extracted. One copy is kept on site the others are for that theater’s U.S. Major Command and the D.I.A. This enables a Quick Reaction Force to extract State department personnel, et al with the utmost expediency and safety. Included in the packet are protocols the ambassador uses to signal the degree of danger he and his people are under. It is similar to an infantry officer using code words to call fire in on his own position if he is being overrun. Under this administration it is not safe to assume that this protocol was written much less followed. If it had a well-rehearsed operation with a much different outcome would have occurred. I am still in shock that the Obama / Hillary administration removed Marine guards from embassy security in the Middle East.. This reversed over two hundred years of tradition the Marine Corps took particular pride in – and were particularly good at when not constrained by Leftist subversive rules of engagement.
If Obama’s islamic affiliation had not dictated political policy mandating the Arab Spring a popular, democratic revolt and Al Qaeda defeated the Marine guards and a NEO would have been in place. These NEO plans were practiced by embassies around the world for many decades. They work. They have worked. The ONLY reason they don’t is when politics trump ground truth.
What we saw at the Benghazi consulate was not only the logically extreme consequence of political gerrymandering of intelligence but the literal “shot heard round the [nation]” by Leftist ideologues. The only thing I’m surprised about is that more Wacos or Ruby Ridges haven’t occurred (yet) domestically under another Leftist administration.
In my opinion, the ensuing cover-up is more insidious than even the most conservative commentators are willing to voice. I believe the conditions were intentionally constructed to enable the attack the same way the Clinton administration’s “foreign policy” enabled Mogadishu and 9/11 to happen – read the 9/11 Commission Report. Bill Clinton protested against American troops presence in Germany while a student at Oxford. About the same time his wife, Hillary, was interning with the most leftist law firm in America. People forget that Clinton’s press advisor told the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff -the highest ranking uniformed representative of all the branches of the military- to leave the White House and come back in civilian clothes. He’s now a CNN commentator. People forget that Clinton, while receiving oral sex in the Oval Office, relegated control of the U.S. military to the United Nations. Obama and Hillary are just exponential advocates of the same ideology surrendering despised American forces -not to the U.N. who appears irritatingly incompetent at destroying our troops on their time line- but to ….literally….our declared enemies. Former U.N. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton is trying to tell us it is an ideological agenda. He has uttered those very words to clueless Fox News “analysts”. Their hidden agenda is to destroy our military by deploying them to places we have no real strategic interest in. I believe they’re under a misconception in that regard. From what I’ve seen of the military, the generals bend over and kiss the (rings) of politicians knowing their policies are destroying the moral and physical fabric of our armed forces.
Our military leadership is so “power/rank over principle” that the Leftists in Congress and the White House don’t have to invest anything to destroy the most powerful force in the world. Our military leadership says nothing when their members’ absentee ballots are thrown in the trash. All three of my Marine sons were told “Yeah, you can fill out the ballot but that doesn’t mean we will mail them.” I have heard several officers at Ft. Huachuca openly state they shouldn’t vote because they are told at military professional schools “it would be a conflict of interest”. General Petraeus, like all “washed and annointed” officers who are groomed by higher ranking mentors, is no genius. When he and Mattis published the much-touted Counterinsurgency Manual (FM 3-24) they were merely reprising two seminal books on the subject written in the ’50s and ’60s: “Defeating Communist Insurgency” by Sir Robert K. Thompson and “Counterinsurgency” by David Galula. These were cited on the inside cover of the draft but deleted from the final edition. And, apparently, neither is he a man of character. I could tell that by the way he limp-wristed the coin toss at the Super Bowl. If he were a man of character and principle, he would resign as CIA director after the attack in Benghazi. The Constitution is being shredded with nary a whimper by the military. Where’s MacArthur when you need him?
