German Field Marshal Irwin Rommel first came to Hitler’s attention when the Fuhrer read Rommel’s book Infantry Attack! a diary of Rommel’s experiences during World War I as a young officer leading successful small unit attacks against the entrenched Western Allies. Hitler was a corporal who served on the front lines of World War I and appreciated Rommel’s tactical sense in a war in which millions died clashing head on. Hitler gave command of the 7th Panzer Division to Rommel leading the invasion of France. He was promoted and commanded the Afrika Corps’ initial defeat of the British in North Africa (during which he earned the nickname “Desert Fox”) until Patton arrived to reverse those successes (“I read your book you bastard!”- Patton). Hitler then gave Rommel command of the Western Front preparing the European coast against the anticipated invasion of Europe.
But Rommel wasn’t the only operational and tactical genius of the German Wehrmacht (Army). The German officer corps had long been the first to professionalize command with military colleges and rewarding promising young officers with opportunities to advance based on merit rather than bloodline, political status or purchase – a standard practice in France, England. This was evidenced after WW I in which German military strategist General Erich Ludendorff, Chief of Staff of the German Army remarked the Allied soldiers were “Lions led by Donkeys.”
There was deep and important ideological difference between the German Army (Wehrmach) which had existed long before Hitler, and Hitler’s specially created troops the SS and the Gestapo who swore their loyalty to Hitler and conducted his most heinous acts against Hitler’s opponents.
German army commanders were universally respected by every other nations’ military leadership for their professionalism and even their chivalry – sense of fair play in war. So, when Kamala accused Trump of being a fascist for remarking “I’d wish I had a few of them,” Rommel was appointed spokesman by his fellow departed German generals to pay Kamala a visit:
Rommel: “Kamala, we hear you accused Trump of being a fascist for expressing admiration for us who served our country in the military during two world wars. Is that correct?”
Kamala: “All I can say is I was raised in a middle class neighborhood.”
Rommel: “The only thing you accomplished by making that egregious character assassination of both Trump and we of the Wehrmacht was to display your astounding ignorance of world history in general and military history specifically. Have you ever served in the military, Kamala?”
Kamala: “My values haven’t changed.”
Rommel: “That’s painfully obvious – and that in itself will be a disaster for the country but let’s try to stick to the reason I’m here. None of us commanders in the German Army were fascists. We were patriots who swore to defend the Fatherland against all enemies foreign and domestic. We followed orders whether we liked them or not – the same as your generals do. We did it to the best of our ability – the same as most of yours used to do. The difference between us and your generals is we were professionally trained and yours are, well, promoted and selected based on not just avoiding telling Truth to Power but on how well they tow the political line of those in power at the time. Nor because our widowed mothers lived within sight of your “beast barracks” to ensure you were promoted to general because your father was a general – or because we married generals’ daughters. That’s the reason your country has been involved in disastrous hostilities since World War II. None of your military leadership has the character, the moral integrity to stand up for the troops and the nation to protest ill-conceived political manipulation of the military and your economy.”
Kamala: “I wouldn’t do anything different.”
Rommel: “And that’s the tragedy of the whole thing. You are so immersed in your pseudo-reality you are incapable of deep reflection and self-analysis – or you are camouflaging your agenda to the nation. That makes you a lying bitch. If you become commander-in-chief you are simply going to continue to cost the lives of the best youth of your nation.
But, back to your labeling Trump as Hitler. Kamala, I knew Hitler. I worked very closely with Hitler. Trump is no Hitler. The only thing Trump has in common with Hitler is they both fired incompetent generals – Hitler was considerably more unforgiving than Trump is in that regard. The incompetent and disloyal generals Trump fired at least lived long enough to criticize him after being forced to retire. Ours didn’t have that luxury.”
Kamala: “I believe in a Hope and Opportunity economy.”
Rommel: “Yeah, I’ve heard those words before. That’s how Hitler came to power after World War I, feeding on the desperation of an economically depressed population created by an elitist government leadership. You’re problem is you and your mentor succeeded a successful presidency in Trump and the record shows you’ve done what every Socialist does when achieving power – create want and desperation out of plenty.
Kamala: “I’m not going to get into hypotheticals.”
Rommel: “Oh, Kamala, those are not hypotheticals. That’s historical fact. It really just shows how much social dissonance you are experiencing – detachment from both reality and the average citizen. But I’m going to conclude our rather one-sided conversation with a reason I believe Trump expressed a desire to have some of us Wehrmacht commanders as opposed to those he was so frustrated by when he was in office.
He knows the difference between us Wehrmacht commanders and our commander-in-chief. We saw him angrily leaving the situation room calling the Joint Chiefs of Staff derogatory names for refusing to provide a plan for getting the U.S. out of Afghanistan. He saw first hand how the senior leadership of your military was bought and paid for by your political-industrial (corporate) complex. He was like Truman and Kennedy in that respect. Trump also has a sense of history and sees the difference between us and America’s generals. Yes, we followed orders from Hitler. But we were not sycophants blinded by professional and political ambition like yours are. When we realized Hitler was going to ruin Germany beyond any sense of decency. When we realized Hitler was insane, we took measures to remove him ourselves. We, in some cases, literally “fell on our swords” for the troops serving under us and our nation. We tried removing him from office. We died honorably trying to right a wrong.
None of your generals since Clinton even considered using the influence they had with an admiring public to simply resign in protest against the insane policies that are ruining your military and exposing your nation’s security to such great risk.
In the final analysis, we put our lives on the line for our men and our country. Your generals won’t even put their stars on the line for their men or their country by simply resigning.”
Kamala: “It’s time to turn the page.”
Rommel: “Well, Kamala, that’s the first true thing you’ve said! It is time to turn the page – on the book that you co-authored. The irony is, if you’re elected, America will devolve into the same situation Germany did under Hitler – hope and change will become despair and war.
So, Kamala, which of the two of you is really Hitler?”
